So it would seem judging by this 185 lb deadlift she posted this weekend.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CRbqTZ8AIW_\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"86797\">A post shared by Mary Duffy (@mduff2404)<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>No, we didn&#8217;t just want an excuse to highlight Duffy&#8217;s awesomeness. But, it is awesome that she is kicking butt and inspirational because we know 20-year-olds who would have a hard time moving that weight (they don&#8217;t read Breaking Muscle, obviously).<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/butt-ology-101-how-to-enhance-your-gluteal-muscles\/\" data-lasso-id=\"86798\">glute maximus<\/a>, you will quickly notice the muscle doesn\u2019t run just up and down, but fans out the pelvis. The muscle does several actions at once, versus a more linear set of muscles like the biceps.<\/p>\n<p>We can think of the glutes as being \u201ctri-planar,\u201d meaning that they do work in all <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingmuscle.com\/how-and-why-to-use-all-3-planes-of-motion-to-improve-your-mobility\/\" data-lasso-id=\"86799\">planes of motion<\/a>, often at once.
